Fall & Halloween Events Around Indianapolis

Just as the weather begins to grow cooler and the leaves begin to fall, one of the best times of year to be out and about around Indianapolis arrives. Hayrides, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, apple orchards, haunted houses and many other unique events all come alive throughout the month of October. Here are a few of our favorite places and events to visit this month.

Tuttles Orchard & Pumpkin Patch

Looking to grab a pumpkin to carve and pick up some apples for that recipe you’ve been wanting to try in one trip? Make the short drive to Tuttles Orchards in Greenfield. Apple picking is available through the end of October and cost varies by the size of bag you would like to pick. The pumpkin patch is also open through October 31st and pre-picked pumpkins area also available.

 

Halloween ZooBoo at the Indianapolis Zoo

The cool weather of October makes for a perfect time to visit the Indianapolis Zoo for ZooBoo. Activities include a Halloween themed dolphin show and elephant pumpkin smash. The zoo will be decorated for Halloween and children are encouraged to wear a costume and bring a bag to collect Halloween goodies!

Conner Prairie historic park’s Halloween festival is back! Come face-to-face with the Headless Horseman on the family friendly haunted hayride. Other activities activities include a hilarious marionette show, fortune tellers, and Halloween themed karaoke, games, shows and more. This one is a great time for the whole family!

Visting our wonderful Children’s Museum around Halloween is a tradition for many families. This years theme is the Cursed Castle and it is the Children’s Museum Guild’s 54th Annual Haunted House. Enter Burnadette the Dragon’s castle with caution! Through the centuries, many knights and princesses have failed to break the dragon’s curse. There are different levels of scary on certain dates for children of different ages!

Looking for one of the scariest haunted houses in Central Indiana? Head north to Indy Scream Park in Anderson. We recommend you leave the kids at home for this one. The park features five haunted attractions, plus a “Monster Midway.” Each haunted house has its own theme and The Monster Midway offers games, food, and beer.

One of our favorite venues to visit any time of the year is The Rathskeller just off of Mass Ave. On October 28th, the venue’s huge outdoor biergarten becomes haunted! Live music from the “First Time Caller Band”, a costume contest for both individuals and couples as well as many prizes highlight the evenings activities. This one is for the 21 and over crowd only!
