The Fashion Mall at Keystone should be bustling this morning, as the Nordstrom department store chain opens its second Indianapolis store here.

Hoping to become a destination for the fashion savvy, the upscale department store’s leaders are offering luxury goods of every kind including sunglasses, shoes, designer clothing, accessories as well as skin care and makeup products.

Customers will find a false eyelash bar, a multi-colored array of purses, racks of glamorous dresses and Nordstrom’s signature shoe offerings. There also is the Anastasia Brow Studio, offering eyebrow-shaping services as well as face waxing and a separate shoeshine booth.

The store’s restaurant Café Bistro has menu items including crab bisque, Asian-glazed chicken salad, gourmet pizzas, sandwiches and desserts such as white chocolate bread pudding, crème brulee and lemon angel food cake. Among the bistro specialties menu listings are sautéed chicken and angel hair pasta, bistro steak pommes frites, and oven-roasted scallops.

The Fashion Mall is Nordstrom’s second store in Indianapolis — the retailer opened its first in Indianapolis in 1995 at Circle Centre mall. Nordstrom has 159 stores in 28 states, according to the company.

A grand-opening gala Thursday kicked things off.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer an additional store for our customers to shop,” said John Bailey, spokesman for Nordstrom. “This store will offer the best fashion merchandise that the market has to offer.”

As the Nordstrom staff prepared for the store’s grand opening Wednesday, brothers Pete and Erik Nordstrom pitched in. The pair, who are the great-grandsons of Nordstrom founder John W. Nordstrom, said they travel to all new store openings.

“I think it’s important to see everything we do, firsthand,” said Pete Nordstrom, 46, who serves as president of merchandising.

“These are big deals,” said Erik Nordstrom, 44, president of stores.
