If Lucas Oil Stadium’s brick facade were a face, it would have been blushing from all the gushing praise Thursday night.
Those who oversaw construction of the $720 million landmark showed off their finished product in grand style before nearly 2,000 of the city’s biggest movers and shakers, most of whom said they were thoroughly impressed.
The invitation-only, $250-per-ticket gala did not disappoint.
In fact, it delivered many surprises: the opening of the stadium’s north window and roof, a booming fireworks show and an unannounced performance by Hoosier rocker John Mellencamp.
