How to help storm victims

Two groups in Indianapolis are leading efforts to help area storm victims:

The American Red Cross of Greater Indianapolis is accepting monetary donations and will be distributing the funds to storm victims so they can shop for items they need at locations of their choice.

For more information, go to redcross-indy.org/donate or call (317) 684-1441.

First Church of the Nazarene, partnering with the Red Cross, is accepting donated clothing, toys, toiletries, towels, washcloths and furniture.

For the short term, the church, 9401 E. 25th St., will be open 24 hours a day, with volunteers on hand to accept donations. For information, call (317) 897-7700.

City plans debris collection sites

Residents with downed tree limbs and other storm debris can bring that material to special trash bins through June 13. Those will be placed in the area with the greatest damage: between 38th and 42nd streets, and Post and German Church roads, said John Bartholomew, spokesman for the Department of Metropolitan Development.

Affected residents may contact the Mayor’s Action Center at (317) 327-4622 for more information.
